Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

Life happens. It can be easy to become complacent and want to give up when we don’t see results. Maybe you’ve been praying for someone for years and you haven’t seen change yet, or maybe you’ve been continuing to do what’s right when others around you seem to be rewarded for doing things their own way — and you’re still waiting.

In Galatians 6:9, Paul encourages the church of Galatia to press on in doing things the right way regardless of the season they’re in. The truth is, in due time, we reap – and sometimes the reaping doesn’t come in this life. So rather than looking for a reward now, we are called to find contentment in doing what’s right regardless (1 Timothy 6:6-7).

The world doesn’t need more of the same, it needs to see something different. We are called to be that example – light and salt (Matthew 5:14-16).

So reader, be encouraged…

Run the race that’s been set before you with endurance (Hebrews 12:1-2), discipline your flesh every day (1 Corinthians 9:24-27), keep doing what you’re called to do, set your gaze ahead and don’t get distracted by what’s around you, keep praying for that person who you’ve been praying for, don’t be jealous of the person who seems to have everything as they are missing what’s truly important in life, be thankful for what God has entrusted you with and don’t hold it to worldly standards – the world’s standards of measurement isn’t able to measure the things of God.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES

1 Timothy 6:6-7, “Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” Matthew 5:14-16“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Hebrews 12:1-2, “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 ,”Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.”
